Having recently set this up for ourselves, there are a few gotchas you would want to know about.
Hopefully, this will make the whole process easier for you.
Note: this setup has to be done by your Administrator
Click on Setup, then Marketplace (in the Extensions & APIs section).
The SMS Magic interface should appear. If you are logging on for the first time, then you will get an invitation page, followed by a whole bunch of icons of different integration products. Choose SMS Magic.
Clicking this will bring you to the SMS Magic integration page. Click on "Install Now" (the blue button to the right near the top of the page) to set up some of the required features in Zoho.
Note: the application is Free, but there is a charge for each SMS.
This link opens up the Zoho to SMS Magic Installation Guide. Follow it through, but read the notes below, first.
The First Gotchas
Step 8 says installation is completed. There are actually a number of additional steps required. See below for details.
Sign up for one of the SMS Magic plans (page 7). Make sure you choose "Sign up for Zoho".
Click "Confirm Your Account". It takes up to 24 hours (usually more like 4 hours) for this confirmation to come through, and nothing will work until then.
Really Finishing Off Setup
Page 9 of the Installation Guide. Sign in to SMS Magic with the email address and password you set up earlier.
Click on the Zoho API Connect. This is your Zoho logon details. When you click Save it will come up with a Green successful message or a Red fail message.
That's all you do with this bit.
Page 10 - Go to Zoho Setup Modules and make a note of the CustomModule numbers against each module with a name starting with SMS. You should have one for SMS SenderID, SMS Template and SMS History.
In Step 1, 2 and 3 of the SMS Magic Configuration Wizard, put in the relevant details, as per this example shown here (make sure you put in the appropriate CustomModule numbers noted earlier).
Ignore point 1 in each Step .. this has already been done automatically as part of the installation.
Steps 4, 5 and 6 can be ignored, too. The setup has added a button to Leads and Contacts automatically as part of the installation, as shown here.
By default, this is added to the details page. If you want to have Buttons added to other pages, you do that by using the same script in Zoho Setup, as shown below.
Finish off the configuration in Zoho. Select Modules and SMS SenderID module (not in Setup) and add an ID. This identifies the Sender in the SMS and can be a mobile number or a name. If it's a name, the recipient can not send a reply message. See more in another blog about this.
And lastly, if you want to set up SMS sending via Workflow, this is how you set up the Webhook page in Zoho, using the code in the Automation section of SMS Magic.
Paste your code into the area shown.
Note: the SMSmagic templates do not sync with the Zoho SMS Magic Templates module, as yet.
